FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Liza’s Legacy Foundation, Inc.
to hold Gala on Friday, September 29, 2006.
ALBANY, NY, September 20, 2006 – Liza’s
Legacy Foundation, Inc., a non-profit volunteer organization
dedicated to empowering and educating individuals about
domestic violence will hold the 1st annual Gala in the
memory of Liza Ellen Warner (May 17, 1975 – October
1, 2004).
“Domestic abuse is society’s best
kept secret, but definitely not the best thing to be
kept secret. Lives are lost as a result,” said Linda
Singer, president of Liza’s Legacy Foundation. “October
1st is the second anniversary of Liza Ellen Warner’s
death. The Gala, which is being held on September 29th,
is planned as a way to honor Liza’s life and to honor
the lives of all victims, survivors and their families.”
Singer continued saying, “Working closely with various
programs enables us to identify gaps in services to
victims and their children. It is our goal to continue
filling those gaps and identify ways to strengthen local
initiatives so that we can empower victims and their
children and help them to move forward in their lives
in respectful ways. Proceeds from the Gala and from
the silent auction to be held at the event will help
our efforts to do all this and more.”
The theme of the Gala is "An
Evening in Shangri-La" and is to be held at Michael’s
Banquet House in Latham, NY on Friday, September 29,
2006 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. The event will include a
Silent Auction and cash bar, with music provided by
Vision. The cost is $75.00 per person. Seating is still
available. If interested in attending or in making a
donation to Liza’s Legacy Foundation, please contact
Linda Singer by email at Linda@lizaslegacy.org.
About Liza’s Legacy Foundation, Inc.
Liza’s Legacy was founded in memory
of Liza Ellen Warner who was killed by her husband on
October 1, 2004. The foundation made headline news in
October 2005 with the introduction of their pin design
selected from a school-wide contest. Liza’s pin, designed
by high school student, Kelly Pane, represents hope
and support to survivors of domestic violence. The organization
hopes the pin will become a national symbol to represent
the fight against violence. Please visit our website
