Liza's Legacy Fashion Show
Raising domestic violence awareness
9/30/2006 11:34 AM By: Capital News 9 Web Staff The family of a woman murdered by her husband are using her death to raise awareness of domestic violence. Dozens gathered at the Albany Country Club Saturday for a fashion show to benefit the Liza Warner foundation. Rensselaer County DA Patricia DeAngelis said that, unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding Warner's death are not all that uncommon. Warner's mother hopes that this event will raise awareness about domestic violence. Martha Lascher-Warner said, "Most importantly for me is to keep Liza's face, her name, her face, her picture out there for women who are in abusive relationships, so they know that there is someplace for them to go." DeAngelis added, "I think a lot of especially young women, get into relationships, abusive relationships, they just don't know what a good relationship is like." Liza Warner was a popular stylist at a local salon, and only 29-years-old when her husband killed her in October 2004.
